Dental Nurse cover letter example and writing guide

Updated 19 September 2026

Your dental nurse cover letter should show the practice what you can do without retelling your CV. Start by checking your Dental Nurse CV, then adapt the four examples below to the vacancy. If you reach the next stage, use the Dental Nurse interview guide to prepare. The Dental Nurse salary guide can help you judge the overall offer.

Square brackets mark facts only you can supply. Replace each prompt; never send the placeholders unchanged.

Write your own covering letter

Opening

Open with the exact job title and [Company name], then explain why this practice interests you. Replace [specific employer priority] with one detail from the advert or the practice's own materials. Follow it with your strongest relevant example, but save the full action and result for the first body paragraph. Address the letter to Dear [Hiring manager's name] if you know who will read it. If you do not, use Dear Hiring Manager.

Choose your evidence

Pick the priorities that matter most in the advert. For each one, describe what you did, how you did it and [measurable result]. Dental Nurse examples could cover preparing the clinical area, decontamination, chair-side support, treatment notes, reassuring a patient or working with the dental team. Only include duties you were trained and competent to perform. Keep the details consistent with your Dental Nurse CV.

Build the body

Keep the structure simple: a brief opening, two body paragraphs and a short closing. In the first body paragraph, describe one example in full: what happened, what you did and [measurable result]. Choose evidence that fits the vacancy, such as staying calm under pressure, checking details carefully or communicating clearly. Use the second paragraph to explain how that experience would help you handle the advertised work. If you are starting out, draw on training, a project or a transferable responsibility. If you are changing careers, explain the move without dwelling on it, then focus on relevant preparation. Internal applicants should show how their present work has prepared them for the next role.

Format it

If the application form already collects your address, do not repeat it in the letter. Use short paragraphs, a standard greeting and a clear font that is easy to read. Before submitting, check the employer's instructions and proofread the letter for spelling, grammar and missing details.

Close and sign off

Close by saying that you would welcome the chance to discuss the role. Match the sign-off to the greeting: use "Yours sincerely," when you have addressed the hiring manager by name, and "Yours faithfully," after Dear Hiring Manager or Dear Sir or Madam. Put [Your full name] on the line below.
