Role cover letter

Healthcare Administration cover letter example and writing guide

Updated 3 September 2026

Your healthcare administration cover letter should explain why you want this vacancy and back up your suitability with evidence from work, study or projects. The four UK examples below show how to do that. Use them with the Healthcare Administration CV example, replacing each square-bracketed prompt with one accurate fact.

Square brackets mark facts only you can supply. Replace each prompt; never send the placeholders unchanged.

Choose the version that matches your situation

The role stays the same. The evidence changes with your starting point.

Experienced

Replace every highlighted prompt

Write your own covering letter

Opening

Start by naming the Healthcare Administrator vacancy and [Company name]. Give one genuine reason for choosing the employer, then point to the experience you will prove later in the letter. Depending on the advert, that might involve protecting patient information, following regulations or communicating with different departments. Mention only work you have done, and avoid stock claims about being passionate or ideally suited.

Choose your evidence

Pick two priorities from the job advert. For each, describe what you did, how you handled the work and what changed as a result. Include figures when they clarify the outcome. Accuracy, sound judgement or useful feedback may be stronger evidence when a number adds little. Match every example to your own experience and the duties of the advertised post, then check that the evidence agrees with your Healthcare Administration CV.

Build the body

Give each body paragraph a clear job. In the first, describe one piece of work: the situation, your action and the result. In the second, show how that experience prepares you for [advertised responsibility]. Use details that fit the vacancy. If it covers pre-employment checks under NHS Employment Standards and Regulations Guidelines, mention relevant experience without implying that every healthcare administrator handles those checks. Career changers can connect [previous responsibility] with [training completed]. Early-career applicants can use evidence from [relevant project], while internal applicants can build on a result from [current role]. For a step towards management, prove that you can handle greater responsibility instead of relying on statements about ambition.

Format it

For an online UK application, use a greeting, short paragraphs, a conventional closing and your typed name. Write "Yours sincerely," when you address a named person and "Yours faithfully," after "Dear Hiring Manager" or "Dear Sir or Madam". Keep the layout simple, follow the application system's instructions and proofread your letter before submitting it.

Close and sign off

Close by stating what you could contribute to [team objective], based on the evidence already given in your letter. Keep it brief and confident, but do not assume that an interview will follow. Use "Yours sincerely," after a named greeting and "Yours faithfully," after "Dear Hiring Manager" or "Dear Sir or Madam", then type [Your full name].

03

  • Match the UK sign-off to the greeting.
  • Check names, spelling and grammar before submitting the letter.
  • Keep the letter between 80 and 150 words unless the application asks for a different length.
