Estate Agent Cover Letter Example and Writing Guide

Updated 11 September 2026

A good estate agent cover letter connects your strongest evidence to the vacancy instead of retelling your work history. Check the claims in your estate agent CV and use the estate agent salary guide when assessing the wider opportunity.

Square brackets mark facts only you can supply. Replace each prompt; never send the placeholders unchanged.

Write your own covering letter

Opening

Open by naming the Estate Agent vacancy and [Company name], then explain what attracted you to this particular post. Address the hiring manager by name when you have it; otherwise use "Dear Hiring Manager". Next, give your strongest evidence for [specific employer priority]. Make the connection clear: if the advert focuses on viewings, describe a time you explained information well to customers; if it stresses negotiation, show how you helped people reach an agreement. Mention [measurable result] only when you can support the figure. Keep the opening brief enough that the next paragraph can explain what you did and how you did it.

Choose your evidence

Build the evidence paragraph around one example, not a list of qualities. State what was happening, what you were responsible for, what you did and what changed. For a vacancy that mentions computer work, you could describe using [relevant tool] during [relevant project] to complete [relevant task], then give [measurable result]. Estate Agents need to use computers and common software packages competently, so explain how your example proves accuracy, confidence or efficiency with the tool. Keep the result honest and specific. If you cannot support a number, describe a concrete outcome instead. Early-career applicants can use coursework, volunteering or personal projects, provided they make their own contribution clear.

Build the body

Let the advert set the order. After a brief opening, use the first body paragraph for your strongest example and the next, if needed, to show why it matters to this agency. Estate agency requires persistence, so describe the point at which you followed an issue through and what changed as a result. If you are changing careers, explain the move plainly and show how [previous responsibility] gave you a useful skill for the vacancy. If you already work for the organisation, focus on [internal project] and spell out what it proves about your readiness. Close with the contribution you hope to make.

Format it

Keep the letter easy to scan. For an online application, use a greeting, three or four short paragraphs, a standard closing and your typed name. Follow the form's instructions, then read the finished letter aloud to catch awkward wording, spelling mistakes and missing words. Cut vague praise and any claim you cannot support with a clear example.

Close and sign off

Finish with a clear link between your evidence and [team objective]. You might refer to arranging viewings, helping buyers and sellers reach an agreement or keeping a transaction moving, but choose only the duty that fits the vacancy. Then ask for the opportunity to discuss your application. If your greeting names the hiring manager, sign off with "Yours sincerely,". After "Dear Hiring Manager" or "Dear Sir or Madam", use "Yours faithfully,".
