Fashion Marketing Cover Letter Example and Writing Guide

Updated 20 September 2026

A fashion marketing cover letter should connect your strongest evidence to the vacancy and the employer's priorities. Review your fashion marketing CV first, then use the examples and guide below to build a focused application letter. The fashion marketing salary guide can also help you assess the opportunity.

Square brackets mark facts only you can supply. Replace each prompt; never send the placeholders unchanged.

Write your own covering letter

Opening

Name the Fashion Marketing position and [Company name], then state why this particular role interests you. Follow with [relevant achievement] that connects directly to [specific employer priority]. For a strategy-focused vacancy, evidence might come from using data and customer insight to research trends, brands and markets. Keep the opening specific and skip generic praise. Use the recipient's name when you have it; otherwise begin with "Dear Hiring Manager".

Choose your evidence

Choose two or three priorities from the advert, then prove each one with a project, the action you took and the result. Use evidence that fits the vacancy rather than trying to cover every part of fashion marketing. If you mention [qualification held], explain what you learned or produced. Describe entry grades and accreditation carefully: they apply to a particular course and intake, not to fashion marketing jobs as a whole. Applicants who entered postgraduate study through professional experience can present that route accurately without treating it as a standard requirement.

Build the body

Build the letter around two short evidence paragraphs. In the first, describe one piece of work: what you were trying to achieve, what you did and the result. Choose evidence that suits the vacancy, such as customer research, market analysis, digital content or campaign evaluation. Use the second paragraph to connect that experience to [advertised responsibility] and [specific employer priority]. If you are changing careers, briefly explain the move and show how a previous responsibility helped prepare you. For an internal application, use a recent contribution rather than relying on familiarity with the organisation. Finish with a direct sentence about how you could support [team objective].

Format it

Keep an online application easy to scan: use a business greeting, three or four short paragraphs, a standard closing and your typed name. In the UK, write "Yours sincerely" when you address someone by name. Use "Yours faithfully" after "Dear Hiring Manager" or "Dear Sir or Madam". Check the application form for any specific instructions, then proofread the letter before you submit it.

Close and sign off

Use the final lines to connect your evidence to [team objective]. If the vacancy focuses on promotion, refer back to your campaign evaluation or understanding of customer profiles, then explain the contribution you could make. End by saying that you would welcome a conversation. Keep it direct: enthusiasm, familiarity with the organisation or [qualification held] cannot replace a relevant example.
