Dear [Hiring manager's name],

Write your own covering letter

Opening

Name the Housekeeper vacancy and [Company name] immediately. Add one specific reason for applying, such as [specific employer priority], then identify the strongest evidence you will develop in the body. Use Dear [Hiring manager's name] when you know the recipient; otherwise, use Dear Hiring Manager.

Choose your evidence

Choose two or three priorities from the advertisement and employer research. Match each one with a specific example and, where available, [measurable result]. Relevant evidence might show how you cleaned guest rooms and changed linen, managed supplies, reported maintenance problems, paid attention to detail or communicated with customers. Do not claim every duty: select the evidence that genuinely belongs to you.

Build the body

Use two focused body paragraphs. The first should explain what you did, how you approached it and what happened. The second should connect that evidence to the employer's work. Early-career applicants can use a relevant project or task; career changers should explain the reason for the transition and connect earlier responsibilities to housekeeping; internal applicants should use a current achievement and show readiness for the advertised responsibility.

Format it

For an online application, use a greeting, concise paragraphs, a conventional closing and your typed full name. Keep the presentation professional, follow any instructions in the application system, and proofread the final version for spelling and grammar.

Close and sign off

End by expressing interest in a conversation without assuming that one will be offered. Use Yours sincerely when you addressed a named person. Use Yours faithfully after Dear Hiring Manager or Dear Sir or Madam, then type [Your full name].
